Ranchhod Foundation Wishes

Ranchhod Foundation launches-Raman Ranchhod

We feel extremely privileged to be able to honour the memory of our beloved father Raman Ranchhod, through the establishment of the Ranchhod Foundation Wishes, in conjunction with Indian Newslink.  Raman was a dedicated family and community man, who gave his time effortlessly to help and guide those around him. The news of his illness was extremely hard to fathom for the family and also for the wider community at large. He was a people’s person and the positive impact he has had on many lives, many of which were communicated to us after his passing, is overwhelming and encouraging.

The Ranchhod Foundation was established in 2011 with the vision of aiding in the betterment of humankind. We, as a family, have undertaken many charitable projects in New Zealand and overseas through the Foundation, including health and eye camps, donations of crucial medical equipment, providing shelter to elderly abuse victims and providing free-of-charge medical services through our Laduben Ranchhod Hospital in Navsari, India.

Cardiac Stress Machine Donated in Fiji

The Ranchhod Foundation have donated a cardiac stress machine for charitable service at the Sarada Medical Centre of Ramakrishna Mission in Nadi, Fiji.

A cardiac stress test  is a cardiology test that measures a heart’s ability to respond to external stress in a controlled clinical environment. The stress response is induced by exercise or by drug stimulation. Cardiac stress tests compare the coronary circulation while the patient is at rest with the same patient’s circulation during maximum physical exertion, showing any abnormal blood flow to the heart muscle tissue.  The results can be interpreted as a reflection on the general physical condition of the test patient. This test can be used to diagnose coronary artery disease (also known as ischemic heart disease) and assess patient prognosis after a heart attack.

The cardiac stress test is done with heart stimulation, by exercise on a treadmill, pedalling a stationary exercise bicycle ergometer, with the patient connected to an electrocardiogram  (ECG). The level of mechanical stress is progressively increased by adjusting the difficulty (steepness of the slope) and speed. The test administrator or attending physician examines the symptoms and blood pressure response.

The machine will have a tremendous effect on determining heart conditions and potential heart attacks before they occur, so that the patient can adjust their lifestyle as a preventative measure, before such problems occur.

Nepal Humanitarian Aid

The Ranchhod Foundation visited Nepal in December 2015 to provide food and blankets to hundreds of residents of rural Kathmandu villages who were and still are hugely affected by the earthquake that shook the nation in 2015.

This trip was extremely heart warming and one that we will cherish forever. The people of Nepal were deeply affected by this natural disaster. The ground was shaken under their feet, however their courage and determination has not been shaken, and as a nation are humbly remaining united and strong. We look forward to returning to Nepal in the future.

Elderly Care Housing Project with Shanti Niwas

At some point, as we grow older, we all need a little help dealing with life’s issues. This is especially true for the older people migrating from all over the world. The added barriers of different languages and cultural backgrounds can create a feeling of exclusion and isolation, which in turn, can lead to depression and mental health issues.

The Ranchhod Foundation are excited about our new alliance with Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust and to be part of the Shanti Niwas Emergency Housing Project.  The Foundation will be providing emergency shelter for senior citizens from the Indian and South Asian communities who are in an abusive or unsafe environment, or in dire need of emergency accommodation, and assist these seniors to lead a good quality life by providing them with the required support services.

We look forward to a great partnership with Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust.

Fiji Humanitarian Aid

The Ranchhod Foundation ventures to Fiji often with the vision of helping those in need. With this in mind, we were able to carry out an array of charitable works with our young family.  We visit Fiji periodically to sustain the works we started since 2014.

Nadi Squatters

Deep within the outskirts of Nadi town are what is known as “squatters”.  They are extremely basic accommodation for those who cannot afford much else, from disabled, to elderly, to those whom have simply been neglected.  They live on very basic needs, if that, however have the biggest and warmest smiles to offer.  The Ranchhod Foundation periodically package up a number of boxes with basic food and cleaning items, which included rice, flour, oil, salt, potatoes, onions, cleansing soap, clothes washing soap, etc. and distribute these boxes to the most needy of them all. This is truly a heart-warming experience and one that will stay with us for a long time.

Water Purification System Donated in Mumbai

In January 2013, we had the privilege of visiting P & Saha Vidya Mandir School in rural Mumbai to see the results of the water purification system donated by the Ranchhod Foundation in conjuction with World Vision. The results and benefits of this system, which was one of five donated by the Foundation to rural schools in Mumbai, India, were extraordinary. The teachers and Principal alike raved about better pass rates, less sickness and more alertness from their students since the implementation of the water system. They were very keen to tell us that one of their students achieved the second best exam results in the whole of Mumbai. The school is still , in our eyes, very run down and in dire need of physical improvement, however it was great to see that a simple thing like purified water, something our own children take for granted in New Zealand, has made such a substantial impact to the well-being of the students at this rural School.
